Chelsea 2 - Sunderland 0

Stamford Bridge

Chelsea 2 Sunderland 0

Sunderland were simply outclassed by a Chealsea side who will be pushing for the league title come May. Chelsea took all three points thanks to goals from Shevchenko and Lampard.

Kalou hit the bar for Chelsea early on in the first half but they didn`t have to wait long for their first goal.

Kalou`s was then unmarked on the left and his superb cross was converted by Shevcheko at the far post.

Sunderland were practically spectators in the first half and managed only one shot on goal in the first half with Kenwyne Jones shooting from outside the area.

Sunderland came out after the break and managed to see a lot more of the ball by closing down Chelsea and stifling their play.

All was going well and just as it looked like we could get something out of the game then disaster struck. Higginbotham pulled Alex`s shirt and Peter Walton pointed to the spot.

Frank Lampard stepped up and converted the penalty.

Liam Miller was then sent off for raising his hands after been provoked by Pizarro.

It was then a case on damage limitation for Sunderland.

Match Comment

Well nobody really expected us to get anything from Stamford bridge and at least we didn`t get hammered. Now we look to Villa on Saturday and we need to get some points to start and pull away from the bottom of the league.

Considering how crap we played, I´m very happy for the 3 pts. And if was Miller, I´d feckin punched his lights out, Pizzaro is useless. Best of luck to your lot for the rest of the season.
Blue is the colour
I'll second those sentiemnts - Pizarro should have walked as well!
