Reading 2 Sunderland 1

Sunderland were again cursing their luck. Referee Steve Tanner was the culprit this time. Steve Tanner and his assistants judged a goal was scored when Craig Gordon brilliantly saved Stephen Hunt`s volley.

Sunderland got off to canny start when Andy Cole found himself through on goal and odds on to score but his shot was well saved by Hahnemann.

Reading then started to push forward and won a series of free kicks that Sunderland dealt with well.

Reading went ahead early in the second half with a strike from Ivar Ingimarsson. Gordon spilled Harpers free kick and Ingimarsson was on hand for the tap in.

Sunderland managed to get themselves back in the game when Jones was felled in the box by Sonko. Chopra coolly slotted home the resulting penalty.

Jones then had a chance to win the game for Sunderland. The Trinidad + Tobago front man found himself clear through on goal but Hahnemann saved his shot. He should have found Stoke`s running in unmarked on the far post.

Reading then got the injury time winner with Hunts saved shot!

Star Player

Danny Collins - Another consistent performance from Danny he defended well and linked up well with Murphy and Wallace.

Vital Sunderland Says

Another week and we are talking about how bad the officials were. Surely we are due a decent one soon if there are any. I am starting to have the feeling that the referee`s in this league have it in for Keano.

I think overall a draw would have been a fair result (shame Tanner didn`t see it that way) we did however have the chances to win the game before they got their controversial second.
