Sunderland were simply outclassed by a rampant united side.

Sunderland manager Roy Keane gave youngster Martin Waghorn his senior debut against the premiership champions.

Sunderland started the game brightly with Waghorn getting some early touches.

However it wasn't long before Gordon was picking the ball out of the net.

Brown set Rooney through to beat the offside trap and he Calmly slotted home his shot.

Man Utd then got their second after Sunderland pushed forward with a rare attack, United won the ball broke quickly. They had three passes and the last one was in the net. Saha the beneficiary of some good work from Ronaldo and Rooney.

After the break Sunderland managed to then concede a freekick on the edge of the box.

Ronaldo stepped up to score spectacular freekick at his second attempt Gordon got nowhere near it.

Manchester United then completed their rout when the referee gave them a penalty after Collins was then judged to have tripped Nani and Saha slotted home the penalty for his second.

Martin Waghorn - An excellent debut by the youngster. Made some good runs and put himself about and looks a good prospect for the club.

Vital Sunderland Says

In my opinion we are conceding to many goals. We are desperately missing Nyron at the heart of the defense.

We showed Manchester United too much respect. We didn't close them down and gave away possession too easily.
