Liverpool`s Peter Crouch, Fernando Torres and Stephen Gerrard scored the goals that beat a stubborn Sunderland side.

The first half was very even with neither side really threatening to break the deadlock. Sunderland lost Kieran Richardson to a reoccurrence of his hamstring injury and Rade Prica replaced him.

The second half kicked and Liverpool were infront within 10 minutes Carragher`s cross found Crouch who`s header beat Gordon.

Liverpool then found themselves two goals in front when Torres doubled their tally. Torres found himself through on goal when he out paced Bardsley to fire past Gordon.

Sunderland then had two penalty appeals turned away before Rob Styles granted a spot kick to Liverpool.

Gerrard made no mistake from the spot Gordon did however get a hand to it.

Sunderland struggled create any real chances against Liverpool with their back line in fine form.

We weren`t exactly outclassed by Liverpool if one of our penalty shouts had come off we could have easily been back in the game.

Its another big blow to lose Kieran to a hamstring again but why was he rushed back so soon when next weeks game is more important

i think we cud get a win, we played brill against liverpool but the ref played for liverpool rather than down the middle. i think rob styles shud be sacked by the fa for his ***** poor performance
