SAFC Paper Talk #6

SAFC Paper Talk #6
The big story in today's papers is that Adam Johnson will have to take a pay cut in order to join Sunderland.

The Manchester City winger is believed to be on £85,000 a week at the Etihad Stadium, and, if a move to Wearside is on the cards, that figure will need to be cut to at least £60,000.

England international Johnson has been linked with a return to the north east continuously since the climax of the Premier League campaign.

In terms of departures, Matt Kilgallon was linked last week with a return to his first club, Leeds United.

However, despite real interest from Neil Warnock, the Yorkshire-born defender is keen to fight for his place at the Stadium of Light, despite a plethora of central defensive options.

Finally, young striker Ryan Noble is still wanted by Hartlepool United after impressing on-loan at the back end of last season.

The striker has returned to Sunderland for pre-season but very much remains on the radar for 'Pools boss, Neale Cooper.

Martin O'Neill is eager to see the 20 year-old in the first team but is doubtful as to whether the young striker is ready.

Noble himself has made it clear that he wants to return the Victoria Park next season.
