SAFC Paper Talk #7

SAFC Paper Talk #7
While there are no new names actually being linked with a move to the Stadium of Light, there are updates to be had on the situations of those linked.

Starting at the back, former Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar is yet to be contacted by Martin O'Neill.

The Spaniard's agent Pedro Bravo told The Sunderland Echo:

"Sunderland have not made an offer for Carlos. They have not phoned me."

La Liga outfits Valencia and Osasuna are also being heavily linked as well at Turkish giants Galatasaray and Greek side Olympiakos.

The Journal are recycling a rumour we brought to you months ago, suggesting PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen could be on his way to Wearside.

The Sweden international was also linked to us by talkSPORT a few months back.

In midfield, Wigan Athletic midfielder Mohamed Diame is still being linked with the Black Cats.

The midfield enforcer is also being linked with Liverpool.

Fellow Wigan man Victor Moses, also being linked with Liverpool amongst others, has said he will not discuss his future until he has finished international duty.

Talking to London 24, Moses said of speculation:

"It`s only Nigeria for now.

"My agent and other people know where best I can play and they are working on it, at the right time a decision will be taken."

Finally, Wolves hitman Steven Fletcher will cost O'Neill 12m according to The Birmingham Post

Fletcher's agent is believed to have held preliminary talks with Sunderland representatives about a move from the black country.

Don't think we really need him to be honest. Never struck me as being brilliant at Villa either!

decent enough centre back, but not great as fullback (isn't his position) which MON insisted on playing him at. Nice guy and always gives 100%. Does pick up a few injuries to be fair.

Steve Bruce Alert

As unlikely as it may seem, a couple of bookies have now changed their favourite for the Sunderland manager's job from David Moyes to Steve Bruce.

Ninth Sunderland Boss In Eight Years Being Sought.

With Sam Allardyce about to be named as the new England boss when a compensation package is worked out, it seems that not everyone is delighted by the up and coming appointment.
