Swarbrick In Charge of WBA v Sunderland
The referee for Sunderland's first game of the season is Neil Swarbrick.

First Premier League Match: - 11 December 2010: Fulham v Sunderland

The Football League's official site says: Swarbrick learned his trade in the Northern Premier League and Conference before he joined the Football League in 2005. He regularly officiated across the Football League for the next six years, as well as taking charge of FA Cup and League Cup matches during that period.

His first Premier League appointment came in December 2010, when he was in the middle for Fulham`s goalless draw with Sunderland. The following season, he and Jon Moss were both promoted to the Select Group of referees and he now predominantly officiates in the Premier League.

Last season Swarbrick took charge of 33 matches all told, in that time he booked 115 and sent off just one.

Last Game Involving Sunderland:

The last time Swarbrick took charge of a game involving Sunderland was 25 March 2014 when the Black Cats took on Crystal Palace at the Stadium of Light.

The game ended 0-0 but there was eight yellow cards shown, four for each side. The Sunderland lads were Brown, Larsson, Bridcutt and Gardner.
