Sebastian Larsson could be in line to feature in the game at Manchester City on New Years Day.
'Seb is very professional and he has the ability to recover very quickly.' - Gus Poyet

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has revealed that the damage to his ankle picked up in the draw with Aston Villa is not as bad as first thought.

Larsson is expected to return to training tomorrow which is ahead of schedule.

Speaking to the club's official website, Poyet said: "Seb looks like he is going to train tomorrow which is great news.

"It looked bad but Seb is very professional and he has the ability to recover very quickly.

"The ankle is a bit swollen but there is no ligament damage, so he`s going to try tomorrow and I think he has a chance of playing."
