Poyet Takes A Blast At The Media.
The 2-0 defeat was no more than Sunderland deserved after being out-played by the league one side who hammered Chelsea on their own patch in the last round.
John O'Shea scored an own goal to put the home side on their way early in the game, and then Jon Stead made it 2-0 in the second half, although by then it looked like Sunderland had given up.
Sunderland struggled all through the game and had little to offer up front with the manager taking the decision to rest Jermain Defoe.
But in his post match press conference, The media felt the wrath of Poyet, he said: 'If we close Sunderland - if we put a China wall around the city - it would be fantastic,' he said. 'When we let you [the press] in and you get [back] out and say what you want, then we've got a problem.
'The problem is you [the media] not me. If you write what I say the fans would be on my side.'
