Sunderland Bring In Kirchhoff To Bolster Defence
The 25 year old left back who has been linked with a move to Wearside, has made the £750,000 move on an 18 month contract claims the Daily Mail.
Kirchhoff has been with Bayern since the summer of 2013 when he made the move from Mainz, but finding his way to commanding a regular first team place has proved difficult so he has been out on loan to FC Schalke on two occasions.
Sam Allardyce was very keen on strengthening his defence as he tries to steer Sunderland away from the relegation zone and he is pleased with the signing.
He said: "He is still relatively young he has experience of football at the highest level, including the UEFA Champions League.
"He has real versatility as a player, being comfortable in both the centre back and midfield roles. He is desperately keen to experience the Premier League and our job now is to do everything we can to help him settle and adapt quickly to life in English football, so he can have a positive impact on our squad."
