Foreigners Make Too Much Fuss says Allardyce
Big Sam was answering questions after watching his side go down 1-0 at the hands of Manchester City last night, a game in which there was a difference of opinion between Jermain Defoe and Argentine Nicolas Otamendi.
Defoe caught the volatile City man with a flailing arm as the two got stuck into a challenge and the former took to the floor.
Referee Stuart Atwell saw little to convince him to get a card out and the incident went unpunished.
Sam suggested that any looking into the incident should be aimed at Otamendi's reaction claiming that 'foreign players' tend to 'make a fuss' because 'that's what they do.'
When asked about the incident Sam said: 'Jermain Defoe doesn`t elbow anybody on purpose. They make a big fuss about it and that`s what they do.
'That`s mostly foreign players, they do make a big fuss of it. That`s in their nature. They react in a more volatile way to incidents like that than we do.'
Earlier this season, his reaction to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's complaint about Jermain Lens' tackle on Mamadou Sakho was that he was 'just a soft German.'
